The Challenge They Came With

This keynote was Caffeine’s launch. Its public life began the moment an app built on stage in front of 25,000 people, and everything DFINITY had worked toward came down to whether that demo landed. EVERYWOW had to broadcast it as the launch it was.

  • No launch week, no press preview, no pre-recorded fallback.
  • The people it was for were watching the stream and in the room.
  • The app had to build on stage, live, the first time.
  • Four cameras and a live cut, held for a full 30 minutes.

Target Group

The livestream had to reach the people who decide what they build on, wherever they were watching from.

  • Web3 and blockchain developers
  • Technical founders and builders
  • The wider Internet Computer community
  • Technology and startup press
  • Anyone evaluating Caffeine
  • A global audience, watching live from anywhere

What’s on Screen

Dominic Williams stood between three screens. The centre one mirrored his laptop, connected live on stage. The left and right mirrored a phone, so the room could watch an app appear on a real device as he built it.

Our job was to make that read as the landmark it was: four cameras, cut live, giving the moment scale and gravitas. A live demo has its challenges, so the coverage keeps Dominic looking as in command on screen as he was on stage.

How It Runs

DFINITY ran the keynote and the demo. EVERYWOW ran the broadcast. The founder built the app on stage; everything that turned it into a livestream was ours.

What DFINITY Does

  • Run the keynote: the founder, the stage, the live Caffeine demo
  • The three-screen stage setup, with the live laptop and phone feeds

What EVERYWOW Does

  • The livestream concept
  • Four cameras and live direction, cut for scale
  • All screens and the stage captured as one clean feed
  • Coverage and cutting that keep the founder looking assured
  • The stream out to YouTube, live to 25,000
  • The full recording handed over

Before the Keynote

Production Concept

We plan the broadcast before the doors open.

Camera Plan

Four positions to hold the founder, the stage, and the three screens.

Run-of-Show

Mapped to the beats of the demo, so the live cut knows what is coming.

On the Day

Live Broadcast

Four cameras, 30 minutes, cut live to 25,000.

Stage setup for the WCS25 event, featuring a countdown timer and messages urging attendees to take their seats. The background is decorated with purple geometric patterns.

Cut Live

One director calling the cut in real time, across the whole keynote.

Streamed Out

Straight to YouTube, where 25,000 people watched it happen.

After

Delivery

We hand the keynote over, ready to keep.

The Deliverables

Handed over and left live, ready to watch.

  • The full keynote recording, handed over
  • Live on YouTube for everyone who missed it

The Hard Part

There was one take. The app had to build on stage the first time, and the broadcast had to catch that moment as it happened.

The whole thing was live and joined together. If the cut missed the beat the app appeared, the biggest launch on DFINITY’s calendar would have looked smaller than it was.

  • Three screen feeds, four cameras, and the stage, in one live cut
  • The app builds once; the cut has to catch it
  • 30 minutes, live, with no pause

What Came Out of It

The demo worked, live, in front of 25,000 people. Caffeine launched exactly as DFINITY needed it to.

The keynote is still on YouTube, watched long after the day it went out.

It is one part of a wider relationship. EVERYWOW has produced more than 100 videos for DFINITY, and the work keeps growing.
