The Challenge

A weekly video podcast is hard. We know, because we build them for clients. So we ran the system on ourselves, no shortcuts.

  • Weekly is relentless. The next recording is always a week out.
  • A podcast has to teach and entertain at once. Teach only, and people close the tab. Entertain only, and you build no authority.
  • Trust compounds slowly. The first episodes reach almost no one.
  • Two hosts on camera every week sounding like themselves.

Who’s on Camera

Stefanie and Victor who make videos for a living, talk through video, marketing, and the technology behind both.

Being good at production does not make you good on camera. Hosting is its own skill: leading a conversation and sounding like yourself with a lens in your face. The first few episodes are where you find that rhythm. A company’s own people on camera, unscripted and at ease, is what builds trust.

How It Runs

The show is a production system: the hard thinking happens once, and then it runs on a rhythm. Two people, one repeatable process.

Before We Record

Production Concept

Every episode is planned before anyone sits down.

Topic Decision

We pick the topic and the angle, built around what our audience is weighing up right now.

Episode Briefing

A briefing per episode: the questions, the running order, and the balance of education and entertainment, all set before we record.

In the Studio

Recording & Production

Two episodes were recorded back-to-back in one sitting.

Two at a Time

Both hosts on camera, two episodes captured in a single session.

One Setup

Two chairs, two microphones, controlled sound, and light. The same setup every week, so nothing has to be re-invented.

After

Asset Delivery

We edit, then publish a finished show.

What Goes Out

Everything from the recording, ready to publish.

  • The finished episode
  • A batch of short clips
  • Subtitles and thumbnails
  • Published to YouTube, Spotify, Apple, and Substack

About 40 Hours Each

Roughly 40 hours of work is needed for every episode.

On Set

The Hard Part

The hard part of a podcast is making something worth someone’s attention, week after week.

It means doing two things at once: teach something worth knowing, and be worth watching. A show that only teaches gets closed halfway through. A show that only entertains builds no authority. Trust builds where the two overlap.

  • A briefing per episode, so the conversation has a spine
  • Two hosts who have different perspectives
  • The sharpest few minutes cut into shorts

What Came Out of It

20 episodes published, weekly, for six months. More than 30 shorts cut from them, with over 26,000 views across the clips, on YouTube, Spotify, Apple, and Substack.

The shorts help the show get found, and the episodes build the trust. Short clips pull people in; the long conversations are where an audience decides you know what you are talking about and they like you.

WOW Happens uses the same production system we run for clients.
