Meet
Bastian Widmer
Head of Production at EVERYWOW

What drives me? The flow state of a production day. My true passion lies in solving complex technological problems and making them look easy. I love the “magic pull” of an event day. You wake up at seven, you get on the tracks, and you’re pulled toward that one deadline. Suddenly it’s 5 p.m., everything is done, and you were completely focused on delivering. You’re finding creative solutions—3D-printing a custom mount or figuring out an internet connection—and for the client, it just works. There is no greater professional satisfaction for me than admiring what we’ve built, knowing we made it seamless for the customer.

My career has always lived at the intersection of information technology and live events. I started with an apprenticeship in IT, managing web infrastructure for the local government before moving to a web agency to build out their IT support structures. Alongside my corporate roles, I spent years deep in the event world. I volunteered at Chaos Computer Club events, taking on every role imaginable: live cutting, camera, AV technician, and stage management. This background gives me a comprehensive perspective that bridges deep IT infrastructure with high-pressure live production.
Beyond my professional roles, a core drive has shaped my life: I love to build stuff. I’m not interested in “Edelschrott” — a project you just do for its own sake. I thrive when I have a need to solve. For example, I’ve built a camper and taught myself electrical circuitry (which I was terrible at in my studies) simply because there was a problem that needed a solution. This drive to build and solve is fundamentally part of who I am.
My journey to EVERYWOW is a story in two parts: one of reconnection and one of curiosity. The “reconnection” happened years after I first worked with Stefanie at an agency. I met with her to discuss potential freelance work. The “curiosity” grew from that meeting. Initially, Stefanie told me directly she didn’t have any work for me. But two weeks later, she called about one specific technical challenge I had mentioned. We met again, and during that meeting, the conversation shifted. She asked, “Why don’t you just do this at EVERYWOW?” and told me to check my email for the working contract.
Today, what started as a curious leap has evolved into my role as Head of Production. I get to plan and execute productions and build studios with an exceptional team. It’s a place where it never gets boring, and I get to bring both worlds of my background — IT and event production — together. We get better with every single iteration, and seeing that growth is what makes it all fun.
